  • TiVo Taping Channels I Don't Get

Its taping movies on Showtime and such channels that I don't even get.

    How do I fix this?
When you say to your neighbor, "We're having a loud party on Saturday night if that's alright with you," what you really mean is, "We're having a loud party on Saturday night."

Somewhere in the setup, there is a place to specify which channels you subscribe to. I don't know where it is off of the top of my head, but if you look under setting and messages, it's there somewhere....

Don't know how much that helps you....
If you believe in something sacrifice a hobo to it or don't bother.

And you are mad that you can tape channels you don't get?

      I kinda like that idea.

I think the setting is that Tivo is recording programs that fits his "tastes" based on the shows he has recorded in the past and the thumbs up button he has hit too as well.

There is a turn off feature under settings somewhere.

I don't have Tivo with me in person so I can't be much of help but try looking at the owner's manual. There is an explantation there and that's what I found when I woke up one day and found 10 or 15 hours worth of programs have been recorded and I haven't even scheduled any one of them.

            Jack,

            I'll find out tomorrow.

Look in channel preferences, channel lineup in setup.

Based on the description, it looks like your channel lineup (based on your cable or satellite service) is wrong/incorrect.

You can further customize by choosing individual channels to enable or disable. For example, I have all the home shopping channels blocked, as well as the DMX/Music channels (after TIVO started to record hours of music- w/no video).

              Good luck.

Anyone who is interested---I have had tivo for more than two years. Never subscribed. An old vcr tells it what to record. Have to program vcr, never have to do anything to settings on the tivo.
