Stand up guy and Lounge favorite Brandon Backe got his ass arrested last night along with a FEMA dude.
Good to see while most of Galveston is still digging out of the rubble he is getting his drink on at probably the only place open for business. Whatever he did well deserved simply because of his shitty ERA. Here is the story
GALVESTON — Houston Astros pitcher Brandon Backe was among about eight people arrested early Sunday during a fight at the San Luis Resort, police said.
FEMA coordinator Jamie Ferrero was also placed in custody during the incident, which occurred shortly after midnight at the hotel's swimming pool bar.
Police say a guest shoved an officer who told the man he couldn't bring an open container of alcohol onto the property. That man and others refused commands from officers, a police report said, escalating the incident into what police described as a riot.
Police tasered two people and used pepper spray on one of them, documents said. One man was was taken by helicopter to a Houston hospital.
During the fight, Backe was told by police to back away. He refused and police tried to handcuff him, the report said.
Backe struggled with officers. In the report, one officer said he hit Backe twice in the face before handcuffing him. The officer also said Backe smelled of alcohol and had blood-shot eyes.
Both the officer and Backe had bloodied faces after the fight, according to the police report.
Backe was arrested, accused of resisting arrest, search and transportation by using force against an officer. He was released on $1,500 bail.
Backe has not yet commented on the incident.
