McCain is suspending his campaign because it's ineffective right now -

He is asking for a timeout to regroup -

He did this during the Republican primary and it was very effective.

With 40 days left in the campaign - the chances of getting all 3 debates in grow slim. If Obama pushes it will make McCain look noble and say he is putting the country first.

Why would he have to suspend his campaign when (I believe) the bill (in whatever form) has yet to come out of committee and reach the Senate floor for a full vote?
