    Erik Johnson injured...on the golf course

    Bad news from the Blues ...

    Johnson hurt his knee; will likely miss the first few days of camp ... tests are being done to see how serious it is.

              Bad news from the Blues ...

              has some swelling in the right knee...will miss at least the three first days of camp.

              More tests are being done to determine how serious this is. Need to have the swelling go down before they can due tests, which are tentatively scheduled for Tuesday.


              "This is somewhat disturbing," John Davidson said. "The swelling is there and that's not a good sign."

              Keep your fingers crossed.

              "It's too early to speculate," JD said.

              But he indicated that surgery is possible, based on what the doctors find on Tuesday.

              How did this happen?

              Davidson said it happened on the golf course, at the Lake of the Ozarks ... he pulled a cart up to hit his next shot, stepped out of the cart with his left leg, then reached back with his right leg to press down on the brake... but he slipped and missed the brake and hurt the knee.

              JD said: "It sounds hard to believe, but it's the God's honest truth."

              On the conference call Davidson was clearly distressed.

              "He's a great kid," Davidson said. "This kid works his tail off. He's really upset that something like this happened."

              As for what Johnson's loss would mean to the Blues, Davidson didn't want to go that far -- and speculate that Johnson would be out long-term. But he talked about how good Johnson is, and the big difference between last year and this year. He described him as a "kid" last season, but now he's "a man."
