  • Why not go to the race track?

A certain razorback fan and myself are very much a part of horse racing, for me; it's my true passion. Since 1959 it hasn't been the same, we no longer see thousands at the track anymore, excluding the rich meets of Del Mar, Saratoga and Keeneland. Now that said, everyone who I have brought to a race track with me that has had no interest in it, enjoyed it. Some of them have even kept up with it since that time. Now I know some of you here actually started to head to Fairmount Park around 04 after Smarty Jones gave us the publicity, why haven't you gone back. And What would you guys like to see from the race track to help bring the crowds back to the "sport of kings"?

I usually go a few times a year. Fairmont's kind of a dump. Definitely needs some paint and broom action. I guess being on the verge of shutting down doesn't allow for much upgrading though.

Do you ever go out to Arapahoe Park, or is that just too funky?

I'm not allowed to return to Fairmount since "the incident".

They had to put that horse down after what you did to the poor thing.

I enjoy going to the track. Well, did anyway. Haven't been for a while.

Ever never gone, I'm always gone for the summer. People have told me though its a fun time and the track is relatively new and it is kept up. Ever since they shut down old Centennial, Denver has never been able to get decent horses out there also, I mean its in the middle of no where! The other problem is with Arapaho is the class, its a mixed meet of Quarter Horses, Arabians, Aplaossos, and Thoroughbreds, there richest race for thoroughbreds is 25,000 I think. That's like a claiming price in KY.....

Probably a safer investment than Wall Street these days.

Yeah, all of the above, although it's only 20 minutes for me. Strictly small time entertainment, because as you noted, of the quality of horses. Used to see Pat Day ride at Centenial back in the day.

Not really sure why I never go. I should soon.
