  • McCain's VP Pick

I thought we had a thread on this, but couldn't find it. In any event, he's supposed to announce his choice on Friday. This from The Hill would seem to indicate that it won't be Lieberman:

Despite standing only 20 yards away from the Connecticut delegates who criticized Lieberman harshly, Sen. Chris Dodd (D-Conn.) defended his home-state colleague Wednesday.

Dodd said that Lieberman had given $250,000 to help Democratic Senate candidates win election this fall.

“He gave $250,000 to the DSCC a week and a half ago,” said Dodd. “He’s been very helpful to Democrats.

    * * *

A Lieberman aide said his boss gave only $100,000 to the committee earlier this month and another $100,000 to the committee last year. Public records show that Lieberman also gave $30,000 from his leadership political action committee, bringing his total contributions to $230,000 for this election cycle.

Apart from his liberal tendancies, I'm not sure the GOP electorate would be too pleased with Joe giving lots of his money to the DNC during this election cycle.

Who will it be then? Romney? Guiliani? Pat Dobson? Ann Coulter?
“I’ve always stated, ‘I’m a Missouri Tiger,’” Anderson said March 13 after Arkansas fired John Pelphrey, adding, “I’m excited about what’s taking place here.”

Asked then if he would talk to his players about the situation, he said, “They know me, and that’s where the trust comes in.

        I think it'll be Romney.

If McCain wanted a cocksucker blowing him under the table, he'd hire a hooker, not Lieberman.

              I share your enthusiasm.

It was ludicrous for Giuliani to be taken seriously as a candidate for potus. Listen to Biden for 23 seconds, talking to a reporter as he walks to his car.

Romney will have a hard time with him at the debate in St. Louis, but his real value will be the constant drumbeat tearing into the phony aura of expertise McCain has been ordained with.

Biden, by contrast, laughed at Giuliani. He mocked him. "The irony is, Rudy Giuliani, probably the most underqualified man since George Bush to seek the presidency, is here talking about any of the people here," said Biden at one of the debates. "Rudy Giuliani... I mean, think about it! Rudy Giuliani. There's only three things he mentions in a sentence -- a noun, a verb, and 9/11. There's nothing else!" Giuliani, of course, took umbrage, and said Biden lacked foreign policy experience. This led to my favorite YouTube of the campaign, in which Biden dismantles Giuliani, live on television, while walking to his car. (23 seconds)

Senator Joe Biden discusses Rudy Giuliani's foreign policy "experience."

I haven't a clue. I'd be fine with Romney, but I just don't think McCain would be.

If security sweeps are the giveaway, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney may be on the brink of being selected as Sen. John McCain’s (R-Ariz.) vice presidential running mate.

According to sources with strong Michigan ties, the Secret Service has conducted a security sweep of the home of Romney’s sister. Romney was raised in Michigan, where his father served as governor.

However, one campaign operative familiar with the working of a presidential-level campaign cautioned that a sweep of such a location could have been conducted in advance of Romney appearing as a surrogate — not the vice presidential nominee — at an upcoming McCain campaign stop in Michigan.

Any McCain campaign appearance in Michigan would likely include Romney, who remains popular there.

Other sources and some news reports have also suggested that Romney in the last few days might be traveling with a security detail, although exactly who employs this security detail could not be confirmed. Romney finished first in Michigan’s January GOP presidential primary. McCain finished second in that race.
