As a little kid, when my mom was explaining the Old Testament, she'd obviously mention the Jews. Without a frame of reference, I pictured them as Jawas -- a desert, nomadic people -- makes sense! I labored under that delusion for years.

George Lucas is a noted anti-semite. When the Jawas tried to sell the Skywalker family a droid with a bad motivator, it was symbolic of the shady dealings of Jews everywhere.
