  • Random stats for an off-day

Felipe Lopez has started 10 games for St. Louis. We are 7-3 in those games, scoring 5.80 runs per game.

The Cardinals are averaging 5.28 runs per game in the 65 games that Aaron Miles has started. In the 64 games he hasn’t started, the Cards score 4.30 RPG. However, the improved offense doesn’t reflect in the won-lost record. The Birds are 36-29 (.554) when Aaron starts; 35-29 (.547) when he doesn’t.

The Cards are 17-6 when Jason LaRue starts against a right-handed pitcher. They average 5.83 RPG in those contests. When LaRue starts against lefties, the Cards are 0-9, scoring 3.33 RPG.

Adam Kennedy has started 70 games this season, 11 times against lefties. The Cards have won 7 of those 11 starts (in spite of scoring just 4.09 RPG). Adam’s .636 winning percentage as a starter is the highest of any Cardinal vs left-handed starters. Yadi Molina and Brian Barton are next. The Birds are 21-14 (.600) and 15-10 (.600) respectively when they start against lefties.

In Pujol’s 40 starts against lefthanded pitchers, the Cards are 19-21 (.475) and scoring just 3.95 RPG. This is in spite of the fact that Albert is feasting on left-handed pitching to the tune of a .408 average and a .704 slugging percentage.

Over the last 12 games, the team ERA is just 2.89 and the average against is just .246.
