Here's the press release

Pitcher Kyle Lohse of the St. Louis Cardinals has received a five-game suspension and an undisclosed fine for intentionally throwing a pitch in the head area of Edinson Vólquez of the Cincinnati Reds during the bottom of the fifth inning of the Sunday, Aug. 17th between the Clubs at Cincinnati's Great American Ball Park. Bob Watson, Vice President of On-Field Operations for Major League Baseball, made the announcement.

Lohse has elected to appeal his suspension. Thus, the discipline issued to him will be held in abeyance until the process is completed.
