  • Remember Windows Mojave?

Here's the real deal. The TV commercials will follow. Very powerful flash website.

Mojave Experiment adalah studi kasus publik yang dikembangkan oleh Microsoft untuk menentukan apa yang pengguna komputer pikirkan.

    EDIT: Telling statistics -

94% of respondents rated the "new OS" codenamed Windows "Mojave" higher than they initially rated Windows Vista before the demo.

0% of respondents rated the "new OS" codenamed Windows "Mojave" lower than they initially rated Windows Vista before the demo.

    On a scale of 1-10:

    Average pre-demo Windows Vista: 4.4
Average post-demo score for Windows "Mojave": 8.5.

    EDIT EDIT -

84% of participants were Windows XP users.
    22% were Apple OS users.
    14% Pre-Windows XP users.
    1% Linux users.

Obviously, some people were using multiple platforms.

They're spending nearly 1/3 of a BILLION dollars on a marketing campaign to try and convince people they're wrong about Vista...when they're already replacing it in less than 18 months.

This doesn't speak at all to the quality of Vista...this is a PR campaign so that people pay attention to MS again when Windows 7 is released.

What is it you're trying to say here? I think this demonstrates conclusively that the Vista haters often don't know shiite. The sometimes have never used the OS, and certainly can't identify it when they see it.

It's exactly how I would handle it if I was handling MS' public relations -- ya clean up a mess by spinning the positives of its replacement...

          Um, huh?

Wouldn't this be more like cleaning up a mess by renaming the product nobody likes and introduce it as something new?

            Guess I read it wrong

Still, it's spin no matter how you look at it...

Agreed. I still find it interesting that simply giving Vista a 'code name' and introducing it as the next OS from MS makes it better, even when it's the same damn OS.

Admittedly, I'm still on XP - but that's just because my machine's going on 4 years old now, and I don't think it could handle the upgrade.

Also, do you find it humorous that their "heavy flash site" is in flash and not their product Silverlight.

I'm guessing I don't understand what you guys are thinking. It's not spin. It's a counter to the anti-Vista FUD, showing that these guys don't know anything. I, for one, would like to see Apple's Mac vs PC ads actually spell out what's wrong with Vista instead of simply saying "It has problems". But if they did that, they might have to demonstrate that those problems actually exist.

eWEEK research shows that negative perception of the Windows Vista operating system is growing.

In the eWEEK survey conducted in 2007, 22 percent of respondents strongly opposed Vista migration. In the follow-up survey a year later, 55 percent were strongly against deploying Vista. User resistance jumped from 21 percent to 53 percent during that time period, according to the two eWEEK surveys.
What's hysterical about this "study" is that it's based on people's impressions of this "new OS" in 10 minutes of use...not based on actual functionality with their hardware...nor is it based on real world usage over a matter of days, weeks or months.

Microsoft knows that and doesn't care. They desperately need to save face prior to the release of Windows 7 or else they're in serious jeopardy.

This campaign isn't about trying to save Vista...it's about trying to save Microsoft.

People once thought GM was invincible. Their market cap is now 5.63B...or less than a third of Avon. Microsoft is in serious jeopardy of becoming irrelevant if they don't hit another home run with Windows 7.

Don't be surprised to start hearing about a Microsoft split-up either...and not because of the Justice dept or EU....but because Microsoft may very well look at splitting off it's OS side. As hard as they fought Justice on a breakup, that also speaks volumes about the status of the company.

Microsoft in danger of becoming irrelevant?

                      Surely you jest.

Won't ever happen. PC's need to run something. And don't give me crap about Apple either - 90% of PC-based software is Windows-based.
