  • Mizzou Picks Up A WR Recruit Today...

They guy doesn't come with quite the same fanfare as the East St. Louis duo, but the MU staff loves him.

The Latest: Visit puts Tigers on top — 7/23/2008
Allentown (PA) Parkland WR Jaleel Clark was in Columbia Tuesday to check out one of the first teams to offer him. PowerMizzou.com talked to Clark on his way out of town. Could the Tigers add their first commitment...[details]

He's a very good ball player... But I think this does more than boost the Tigers' WR core. This may be a sign of the Tigers making inroads into Pennsylvania and traditional Big 11 country. They've done this with Texas... now, they're getting primo players out of there, AND they've made good connections with coaches, who are giving heads up to "Diamond in the Rough" players like Sean Weatherspoon and (it's looking like) Jerrell Jackson.

    Stars don't mean shite.

Good to see Pinkel get out of the state. You can field good teams in Missouri. You can't consistently field BCS teams in Missouri.

I agree. There's some quality, quality talent in MO. But it needs to be supplimented. That's why we have so many damn Texas kids today.

I used to get really wrapped up in stars, but I'm starting to trust Pinkel and his staff more and more.

For example, I mentioned in my thread starting post, this Jerrell Jackson kid. He's from a small town outside Houston... I believe. He didn't have a SINGLE Division 1 offer outside of MU's. Already at summer camp, they're saying there's no way he'll red shirt. And we all know that MU is still stacked at the receiver position.

It just goes to show you... these recruiting website are fun for speculating and following who your team picks up, but you can't take what their experts say for gospel.

++ It took Pinkel this long to essentially seal the Missouri borders. He has gotten a lot of his talent from Texas. It's basically a Texas and Missouri team.

          ++ On all points.

I remember when Jackson committed last year and looking him up on Rivals. Dude had no stars and I was like.....okeeeeeedokey. Then I watched a video of his high school highlights and that told the story. Dude has great hands and can really go up and get a high pass. Very athletic.

Having Jackson, Jones, McGaffie, Woodland, Stricker, and now Clark is a very nice thing. Man, that's some nice size (minus McGaffie) amongst our young WR corps.

Yeah, F, it's amazing the kind of athletes they're getting. And I do love the fact that the pundits continually rank these classes as "average"... yet, they've been performing well above "average."

Still, the true test will come next year when we lose a WHOLE bunch of our starters. We'll see what kind of depth we have then.

Yep. There's no doubt that next year will say a lot about the program and the direction it's heading. Having a QB who has never taken a college snap scares the ever-loving shit outta me. Oh well. I love all three of the kids competing. Gabbert, Dalton, and Glaser all look like they could handle the load. Gabbert has to have the edge being there and learning from Daniel and Patton. Kinda cool have three Elite 11 QBs on the roster.

Silly house77, Mizzou is boring and average.

Stars mean very little. I look at what offers a kid has.

Zook has 5-6 4 star kids in this class already. He also has 4 2 star kids.

I am fairly certain he could fill a class with nearly all 4 stars if he wanted to....but, guessing they don't look at stars. They look at tools.

He comes by the Lounge and posts a little, he just doesn't talk about the Tigers anymore.

                          Why not?

There are no other Div I football schools in the state.

Don't tell me its because we are in flyover country.

Well, even though you are trying to poke with a stick, Missouri isn't exactly a hotbed for elite football talent.

Texas, Florida, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Maryland, etc. That is where the talent comes from.
