I hope I'm not looking ahead too much, but. . . what are your preferences -- if any -- for wild card winners, assuming we win the Central? Brewers, Cardinals, Mets, Fish, Phils? Also, would you prefer the D'backs or Dodgers to come out of the west?_________________________________________________...

Cardinals because they are the worst of the bunch, and Dodgers to win the west since the Dbacks own us pretty badly.

I'd love it because we'd be going to the World Series.

Very much so. I'd love it for three reasons. One, because I think it would be an easy series win. Two, because I'd love to have my team beat the team of so many of my friends and colleagues who give me crap all the time for being a Cubs fan. And three, it's Cubs vs. Cards. I always get more psyched for those series than any others. Beating the Cards in the NLCS en route to our first World Series title in 100 years would be storybook.

Honestly, the Phillies and Brewers are the only teams that I think could possibly beat the Cubs in the playoffs. If we somehow avoided playing either, I'd order World Series tickets before the NLDS.

It would be nice if you let everyone know this is a day game, schwa.

            1:20 central start.

Why Cubs fans are such fucking idiots. They've won one playoff series in the last century, but the pennant is a given if they can merely avoid two teams.

How otherwise rational Chicago people can suddenly become four-year-olds over baseball has never ceased to amaze me.

                      They don't know any better.

Has anyone else noticed this -- the Cubs fans I deal with are being VERY quiet, not dishing out the normal allotment of shit when the Cubs happen to win a game. I can sense how nervous they are. They actually think they have a chance this time and don't want to jinx it. At least it's that way around here.

Yeah, my ultimate boss is a Cubs fan. He's extremely aware that what looks good right now may look like total shit in a month.

But he lives in NJ now, so he's removed himself from the source of the infection.
