So I bought a couple of laptops this weekend, for my law partner and I. His will be primarily used from home, but the plan for mine is to replace my 8 year old computer at work. My network at work has a Dell server, and all computers operate on Windows XP. I have been told that Vista will screw up the network, so I bought Windows XP a month ago. Should I put XP on my laptop, and if I do, are there precautions of which I should be aware? Additionally, will it wipe out all the software already loaded onto the machine?

Have one. I was hoping to not appear to be a moron when I asked him to link my laptop to the network.

I am a lawyer. I do criminal defense, primarily. He does family. He is clueless about computers, and I am not a helluva lot better.

I don't think Moon doubted that you are an attorney Raise. I believe he was just pointing out that you obviously are not an English teacher.

My wife does this all the fucking time, and I'm forever correcting her, yet she's the collegiate.

BTW, I hated English, routinely failed, yet my father was an English teacher.

Ahh. Thanks for the translation. Moon sometimes confuses me.

If it were my computers: I'd just format the hard drive and re-install XP on it...that "free" software is just a space killer on drives...

                        "my law partner and me".

                        You're welcome.
From this day forward, I no longer shall tinker with the machinery of death.

For more than 20 years I have endeavored-indeed, I have struggled-along with a majority of this Court, to develop procedural & substantive rules that would lend more than the mere appearance of fairness to the death penalty endeavor.

I feel morally and intellectually obligated simply to concede that the death penalty experiment has failed.

The path the Court has chosen lessens us all. I dissent.

No. Currently three computers on the network, one of which will be replaced.

Also be sure you have the drivers you need for the new computer for XP.
