  • I know it won't happen but if you were Mo this offseason...

After seeing the trainwreck bullpen give away so many games would you drop 14 mil per for say 5 years on KRod? I would. You take injury risk with any pitcher but man, for 5 years you'd have who I consider to be the second coming of Mariano Rivera slamming the door in the 9th inning. Discuss, or as per the norm here in my threads, two people respond and let the thread die...

Look past the saves, and his peripherals are declining...throw in the crazy all-arm delivery, and he's my early favorite for Biggest Regret FA Signing.

K-Rod is a lot like Izzy in his prime...gets the save but not before putting a runner or two on base and possibly allowing a run. He's nowhere near where Rivera has been almost every season since 1997. He's going to get an insane contract and prove to not be worth it. And I say that as a K-Rod fan.

14 wouldn't get you in the door.

And there are other closers who have better numbers than him outside of his save totals.

              Just say no.

I would think four years is going to have to be the starting point...

If not K-Rod, then somebody. We've got to have a closer. Unless Carp, Waino and CC are going to throw complete games every time out.

Chris perez is our 2009 closer.

Because of that we can afford another expensive sp.

Chris Perez is my future closer. If not then I want K Rod.

I'm OK with Perez, as long as he doesn't interpret "pitching to contact" to mean "letting them hit a home run every time you take the mound."

Perez should get the ball in '09. I would assume he'll be back up here shortly.

How much would it take to pick up Fuentes off the FA market in the offseason? 15 over 3 years or so? I'd consider that. A lot to pay for a set up man but in a pinch he could close too and he'd be a huge upgrade...

EDIT: Just saw that he's making a bit over $5 million this year already. 15 over 3 prob wouldn't even get you in the door. Not sure I'd want to pay much more than that.
