I don't think I have ever seen this before. A shaky pitcher is named as closer. In response the previously dead offense blows the other team out of the water in three straight games.
The last two - they add a total of 3 runs in the 8th and 7 in the 9th. Almost unheard of.
Thereby making the closer role null and void.
One thing is for sure - there will come a time when Izzy is needed - but so far the naming of him as closer has had the effect of making the boys think no lead is safe - and they have done well with this mindset.
I do believe Izzy is now mine - I will take him home the rest of the year. Lets Go Boys - we got a division - NLDS - NLCS - and World Series number 11 to win.
