  • More Trade Rumor Stuff

Take this for what it's worth, but I read this @ mlbtraderumors.com:

Interesting stuff in this John Perrotto article found via DRays Bay. He names the Red Sox, Tigers, Mets, Yankees, Phillies, Cardinals, and Rays as teams interested in Marte. The Tigers, Phillies, and Cardinals also have an eye on Grabow.
Perrotto runs through all kinds of names of interest to the Pirates: Anthony Reyes, Chris Duncan, Jeff Larish, Matt Joyce, Ross Ohlendorf, Brent Lillibridge, Brandon Jones, Jeff Niemann, Jon Niese, Eddie Kunz, and Bobby Parnell.

I think Anthony Reyes would be a perfect gamble for the Pirates. He's obviously got talent. Maybe a chance in scenery/philosophy brings it out. If not, you've given up a reliever and you're still a shitty team. What's to lose?

That would be selling incredibly low on both those guys. Alas.

What's the deal on nothing seeing if Reyes can get a couple of outs in the bullpen -- the market for him as a starter is better? In other words, we're more likely to trade him if he's a starter for Memphis than a reliever for St. Louis?

I've stopped trying to figure out that situation.

it's the Cards own fault that Reyes' value is low. Duncan should have been gone right after the 06 WS when his value was artificially inflated.

Presumably, he's got more value as a starter than a reliever...if a team is going to trade for him, they'd likely want his services in a rotation...

Chris has a leash that can wrap around the globe, while Reyes' leash is shorter than a chihuahua's head.

It almost appears that TLR and DD are trying to make Reyes quit the game.

that's why I am so mad about the Reyes thing. it seems like they want to ruin his career because he's mean to them or something.

Maybe in Reyes' 3 stints in the big leagues if he would have....I don't know...not been a terrible pitcher for 85% of the time, he wouldn't be in this situation. I don't get why people feel bad for him. He's had multiple chances in the bigs and it hasn't worked out. We have a nice amount of talent now in the minors that deserve a shot over him.

He also needs a 3rd pitch or he's never going to have any success in the majors. His fastball just isn't good enough to get by with 2 pitches.

The Care and Feeding of Anthony Reyes has been very strange. Bernie or Gordon could do a good column explaining the difference between how Reyes has been treated and how Duncan has been treated.

i really do think that they are keeping him down there based on a personal grudge, and not statistics or whether they think he is better than Garcia, boggs, or who else.
