  • Good Reading from our friends at NSBB

These guys/gals are about as dramatic and oft-unrealistic as we are after a devastating loss. Enjoy!

'Ankiel scares me.' - Snoodmonger, NSBB, prior to the game-winning Ankiel at-bat.

'It must be fun to live in the world where we still don't view the Cards as a threat.' - Tomy23, NSBB

'They're not. Seriously, I'd bet so much money on us finishing ahead of them this year.' - Southside Ryan, in response to Tomy23's post on NSBB

'Seriously, what a devastating loss. I fully expect us to get blownout tomorrow and go on some kind of skid.' - DexterMorgan, NSBB

'Yeah just like the brewers tremendous collapse on thursday led to them getting blown out by the pirates on friday.' - TruffleShuffle, in response to DexterMorgan post on NSBB

'Someone please send ankiel a pound of cocaine and get him back on the stuff. this is such bull crap.' - TruffleShuffle, NSBB

'They'd be crap on most teams, but molina and skippy have hardly been crap this year. same with miles.' - TruffleShuffle, NSBB

'They're all hitting .298 or higher. It's unbelievable. And Rick Ankiel has 3 more homers than any Cubs player. It's mind-blowing. The only bad thing that has ever happened to the Cardinals was Ankiel, so why wouldn't he come back and become a slugging CF?' - Andy, in response to TruffleShuffle post on NSBB

'Daryl Kile's death was a blessing in disguise.' - Southside Ryan, in response to Andy's post on NSBB

    'Well, let's see...

    1. Going into the bottom of the 9th with a 2-run lead....check
    2. Insert mostly stud closer...check
    3. Bottom of the lineup due up for a team that had scored 4 runs in 17 innings...check
    4. One out away from a huge W..check
    5. Allowing an ex-pitcher to win the game...an unfortunate check

Time for a few beers (and they won't be Buds!) - JonnyRed, NSBB

'I've been optimistic, but I'm not liking the way this team is shaking out. I still think we need a top of the rotation starter to be serious and I don't see who we can get at this point. If the Brewers get Sabathia and we end up with some stiff like Randy Wolf, I think the Brewers become the favorite.' - DexterMorgan, NSBB

'Put this loss in the: "crushing, no way the Cubs are going to lose this game internal file". Seriously, I'm so used to to these type of losses that you almost become immune to them. I have felt this feeling so many times that you just walk away from the TV and say: "They managed to lose another game they had won.'If it's not blowing the NLCS in 1984 and 2003, it's losses like these that remind you how hard it is to be a fan of this team.' - ChiCubsfan0503, NSBB

'Maybe, it is time to re-evaluate just how good this team really is.' - IlliniGuy

'At what point should we start to worry about the other teams in the division? Once they have passed us?' - IlliniGuy, NSBB

'Don't look at me, I've been well documented as worried about the Brewers since they were about 9 games out of first.' - Southside Ryan, in response to IlliniGuy's post on NSBB

'You probably should start to worry about the Cardinals too. They have hung through half a season.' - IlliniGuy, in response to Southside Ryan's post on NSBB

'Nah. I'd bet my house that the Cardinals don't make the playoffs.' - TheMojoPin, in response to IlliniGuy's post on NSBB

'I'm assuming May 30th is your reference point.

    Record since May 30th:

    Cardinals 17-16
    Cubs 18-15
    Brewers 19-11

    Just saying' - UMFan83, NSBB

'todd wellemeyer cant throw more than 5 innings and has given up 14 runs in his last 19 innings. we arent losing tomorrow.' - IMB, NSBB

There are many people out there that follow sports that should find another hobby. I think some people expect their team to go 162-0.

Even with the loss the Cubs still have the best record in the NL. Plus they have been able to keep up their winning even with their #1 starter and all-star outfielder hurt.

I read it and he was responding to the idiot who said that Ankiel was the only bad thing that ever happened to the Cards.

            True that.

We've had our share of heart-wrenching losses this year. The mark of a baseball team is how you respond.

So far, we've responded pretty well.
