Lets Go Cardinals -

The addition of Troy Glaus appears to be working out just fine for the St. Louis Cardinals.
The third baseman will try to continue his hot hitting on Thursday as the Cardinals attempt to take a four-game set from the New York Mets.
Glaus, a four-time All-Star and the 2002 World Series MVP, is 6-for-10 with three doubles, two homers and five RBIs in this series to help the Cardinals (49-37) win two of three games against the Mets (41-43). He hit both of those homers Wednesday, including a two-out, walk-off shot to secure an 8-7 victory, an inning after pinch-hitter Chris Duncan hit a two-run homer to tie the game.
“When you’ve played as long as he has, if he stays healthy you’re going to get something like that,” Cardinals manager Tony La Russa said of Glaus. “He takes a good swing in a clutch situation. He’s done a heck of a job for us.”
Glaus was acquired by St. Louis from Toronto in a trade for Scott Rolen in January. The move was questionable after foot surgery ended Glaus’ 2007 season after 115 games.
He appears to have put that behind him, playing in all 84 games for St. Louis. He’s gone 12-for-28 (.429) with three homers and seven RBIs in the last seven contests, giving him 54 RBIs, two behind team leader Ryan Ludwick.
Glaus will try to help the second-place Cards close the 2 1/2-game gap on NL Central-leading Chicago.
St. Louis hasn’t taken a series from the Mets since winning two of three at home from May 16-18, 2006. The Cardinals beat New York in seven games in the NL championship series later that year before winning the World Series.
Mitchell Boggs (3-0, 4.37 ERA) will try to lead St. Louis to a win for a fifth start in a row.
The rookie right-hander won for the third time in four starts Saturday with his best outing of the year, yielding one run and four hits with a season-high six strikeouts in six innings of a 5-1 win at Kansas City.
“They’re 4-0 when I start because they’re killing the ball when I pitch,” said Boggs, who’ll get his first start against the Mets. “They’re scoring a lot of runs when I pitch. I’m just going out there and trying to let the guys behind me play.”
The Mets will give the ball to Mike Pelfrey (5-6, 4.47 ERA), who is looking to extend his career-high winning streak to four games in his first start against the Cardinals.
The 24-year-old right-hander has won his last three starts - all on the road - despite posting a 5.40 ERA and walking 11 batters in 16 2-3 innings.
Pelfrey struggled through five innings of a 15-6 victory over the New York Yankees on Friday. He allowed four runs and eight hits while striking out five and walking four.
The Mets hope to have Luis Castillo, a three-time Gold Glove winner and All-Star, back in the lineup after a sore right quadriceps kept him on the bench for two games. The second baseman, who has missed 16 games due to various injuries, was used as a defensive replacement for Damion Easley in the ninth inning Wednesday.
If Castillo isn’t in the lineup Thursday, Easley would likely get a third consecutive start after going 3-for-4 with three RBIs on Wednesday. He’s 6-for-11 (.545) in his last four games.
