Dick Cheney says waterboarding isn't torture and that's good enough for me.

That's the closest Christopher Hitchens has been to having a shower in about a month.

I was surprised he only lasted that long. I started holding my breath when they placed the towel over his face, and was still holding it when he dropped the metal pieces. Then again, I wasn't lying on a board with my head covered wondering if I would be seriously hurt.

Prior to this, did Hitchen support waterboarding? I know he has been a supporter of the war against radical Islam from day one.

Yeah, I believe he was definitely in the "waterboarding is just teen hijinx" camp before.

wow - that's all there is to it? I never knew what waterboarding was before I watched that video and read the article. I expected it to be much more involved.

If they used vodka instead of water on Hitchens, he'll be happy being vodkaboarded all day and night.

There are two methods to waterboarding. The method not shown involves submerging the head of the prisoner into a tub of water. The problem with this method is that it ends in death more often than the interrogators want. The method shown with Hitchens is a slower form of drowning. With a wet towel over your face, you can't breath. You feel like you are being suffocated. When you try to take a breath, water is poured on your face again. This allows the interrogators to have greater control over your fate. They certainly can kill you in this manner, but it's a lot easier to avoid.
