Why would it be offsides? It's not as if the ball was played to him.

It's offside because there aren't two defenders or the ball between him and the goal...it wouldn't be called until the ball was played to him by a team mate or he gained an advantage.

He obviously gained an advantage there

                Not offsides.

I asked a guy who has a Ask the Referee Forum on a local soccer website. Here is his answer:

think about it....was the ball played FROM a teammate to the goal scorer? and: was there anything the attacker did to -- potentially -- "foul" the keeper?
                Answers to both questions: NO

therefore, it's a legitimate goal. MAJOR error by goalkeeper....

That's why goalie coaches teach: when you have the ball in your hands, ALWAYS check behind you before dropping the ball to the ground as you get ready to kick it...
However: if an attacker "interferes" with the goalie's kicking motion, as he drops the ball to PUNT it, THAT is a violation of Law 12 and is either a free kick for the keeper's team OR a free kick AND a caution.

As it was already described, that's not offsides. If the ball had been taken from the keeper, then passed forward to a teammate, then it would have been offsides. But in this case, it isn't.

The play is only offsides if the player is behind the defenders BEFORE the ball gets behind the defenders. If nobody is offsides when the ball crosses the plain of the last defender, anyone can play it at anytime.

I did not see anybody from the other team raising their hands for the offside call so that means it was onside.

                              Bigger question...

Why do goalies feel the need to dribble (as in basketball style) the ball again anyway?
                              Of course you do.
