    Trip was good. Almost got drilled by a foul ball, went on a submarine, got really really sunburned that I am probably looking like a new tribe of indian, ate some good seafood and lowcountry food. I yelled at my dad and stepmom for their inability to drive, and many things.

        From this day forward, I no longer shall tinker with the machinery of death.

        For more than 20 years I have endeavored-indeed, I have struggled-along with a majority of this Court, to develop procedural & substantive rules that would lend more than the mere appearance of fairness to the death penalty endeavor.

        I feel morally and intellectually obligated simply to concede that the death penalty experiment has failed.

                        I drove from Kirkwood to just north of Charleston last summer in 12 hours. 875 miles. Kindof a last hurrah with the fancy car before the lease was up. Pretty drive and interesting city but there's no way I could make that time now.
