Pretty awesome. First time I had been to a casino. A friend and I went down there for a $30 + $5 NL tourney at 1:00pm. Started out on a roll, took out several fish within the first half hour. Then I got screwed, then I made a totally retarded call and got knocked out after about an hour and a half. After that I went and played some blackjack for a while, put down $20 and left the table with $20. Then I played at the $1/$2 NL table for a while. It's a pretty nice place.

How do the other casinos in St. Louis compare to it, in particular the poker rooms?

I've been to the one in Alton when I was up there for business and was the only person in the place under the age of 85. Probably didn't help I was in there at 4:30 on a Tuesday.

Didn't see any poker room. Just table games and 50,000 slot machines all making noise at once.

I am partial to Ameristar, but the NL cash games are softer at the casinos downtown.
You're being fucking dramatic. You own a TV and an air mattress. That's not exactly what I'd call "a lot to lose."

Its better than vegas. Pizza is better than anything champaign has to offer.

Buffet is quite good. Not as high stakes as the Altamont High Stakes NL Bingo Hall.

I'm no Doyle Brunson, but these bozos didn't know how/what to bet, what the blinds were, who was on the button, etc.

What do they offer at Ameristar? $1/$2 NL I'm assuming, and $3/$6 limit? Tourneys?

I haven't been to the Queen in about ten years. I've never been o the President ot the new one. Harrah's, Ameristar, and the one in Alton have made many positive changes over the years. The best was getting rid of the boarding times and passes. When the Alton Belle first opened, it cost two three bucks just to get on during the week. And I thing the weekends were fifteen bucks. $15 just to get on the freaking thing.

That was back when they cruised.
When you say to your neighbor, "We're having a loud party on Saturday night if that's alright with you," what you really mean is, "We're having a loud party on Saturday night."

Yeah, when they first opened, the Belle in Alton was the 1st one I went on. It was so ridiculous...My great uncle was in from LA and we went over to the Alton Belle. He was a frequent flyer at quite a few Vegas establishments and about died when he heard about boarding times and passes, admission fees and loss limits...Oh! And that's when the Belle still would sail. My great uncle lost about $200 in the 1st hour he was on there. He made some of it back, but still left behind...He decided that locking you on a gambling boat was the dumbest thing in the world because if their tables went to hell and ran cold, you couldn't go on to another casino. He said it was like being held prisoner

The last time I was on the Queen was the summer of '93...The river was flooded so she couldn't sail. The AC was broken, so it was hotter than hell in there and if you went out on deck to get air, you'd see things float by that one generally doesn't want to see, like dead animals. It was also freaky because the logs (trees) would be floating down stream so fast that you could hear and feel them hit the boat. It was creepy. Never went back.

Harrah's has the best poker room by a pretty wide margin.
