  • Jimenez down, Worrell up

Thanks to STL for the tip (via Goold)...

As expected after Saturday night's game sapped the Cardinals of some pitching for today and possibly tomorrow, it looks like they've made a move: Another rookie is coming.

RHP Mark Worrell, once the organization's top minor-league closer, is expected to join the team today. When he pitches, he'll be the seventh player to make his major-league debut as a Cardinal this season.

He is 1-1 with a 1.88 ERA for Triple-A Memphis.

The righty with the quirky delivery has 38 strikeouts in 24 innings pitched. In his past five appearances, he's collected 15 outs.

    Twelve were strikeouts.

    From the KMOX studios,

    Derrick

But he's gotta be related to Tim, right?

          Maybe he's related to Ernest!

                  He's Barry Weinberg's nephew.

                          He's nothing more than AAA-filler and a ML-fill in...

How would you say he ranks in comparison to the stars of the 2003 bullpen--Esteban Yan, Pedro Borbon and Jeff Fassero?

Or the star of the 1992 bullpen--Juan Agosto?
