  • Want 5K? Fight Jose Canseco

    What a douchbag

Just when you thought Jose Canseco's life couldn't get any more surreal, he goes and does something like this.

Canseco, the former Oakland A's slugger and reality TV veteran who recently revealed that the mortgage on his home had been foreclosed, is offering $5,000 to anyone who will step into the ring with him and headline a boxing card in Atlantic City this summer.

Canseco's promoter Damon Feldman sent out the following email:

"We are looking for a big opponent/athlete to step into the ring and fight 'The Bad Boy of Baseball' Jose Canseco in a boxing match, live on Saturday, July 12, at the Atlantic City Bernie Robbins Stadium. The person picked will be paid $5,000 and become a star overnight. There will be a full undercard and if you are not picked you may have a shot on the undercard."

Canseco has been through two costly divorces, which have contributed to his money problems.

so awesome...one of my all-time favorites...
. . . and to tell you this: I work with gays, have friends who are gay, go to church with gays. Most of them are aware that I believe that homosexual behavior is sin. Some of them actually agree. Most don't. It's OK . . . because they also know or at least have been made aware of my multitude of sins: adulterous heart, lustful and covetous behavior, wicked pride, angry spirit . . . do I need to go on?

Vai Sikahema, despite being a foot shorter than Canseco, would totally kick his ass.

i'd get knocked on my butt for $5k that would pay off my credit card, with lots of room to spare.

and if they fail to explain any rules, i will not hesitate to pull out a trashcan from under the ring and club him over the head, then hit a flying elbow off the top rope for the win

It's not like kicking him in the nuts will do any good either.

ATLANTIC CITY -- Jose Canseco was knocked out by former Philadelphia Eagles return man Vai Sikahema in their celebrity boxing match Saturday.

Canseco's size advantage -- he is 6-foot-4, 245 pounds to Sikahema's 5-9, 205 -- was not a factor in the bout, which was over in the first round.

"When you step inside the square circle," Sikahema said, according to the Press of Atlantic City, "don't ever think that your size is going to matter because in Philadelphia, we will chop you down."

Sikahema was asked if there were any surprises.

"That it didn't finish in the first 30 seconds," he said.

Sikahema, who is also a sportscaster, has some experience in the ring. He has had more than 80 fights as an amateur boxer, according to the Press. Canseco said he had a background in martial arts.

Sikahema knocked Canseco down twice -- once with a left hook, and the second after a flurry of punches -- as the bout was called before the end of the first round.

Sikahema donated $5,000 of his winnings to the family of a slain Philadelphia police officer, who was shot and killed in May.
                              ...and there you go
