  • Mccain fails to vote no on bill to aid veterans--also fails to vote yess

Did not need his vote, anyway. Good for the straight talker. He did not vote with the democrats. He did not vote against the veterans.

    He is covered.

Breaking: McCain Skips Vote On 21st Century G.I. Bill

    By Greg Sargent - May 22, 2008, 1:15PM
The Senate just voted to pass Jim Webb's 21st Century version of the G.I. bill, which would greatly expand educational benefits to veterans.
    Guess who skipped it?
    John McCain.
McCain, who touts his support for veterans, had previously declined to support the bill. He offered another version of it so he'd be seen as having tried to offer an alternate solution.
McCain came under pressure from real live veterans and others to back the Webb bill. And rather than vote against it, he skipped the vote instead.
Both Hillary and Obama voted for it, and it passed 75-22.

what was his issue with the bill? I would hate to be pissed if he had a legitimate reason for not backing it. (he probably does not, but just want to be sure)

I wonder what all of these "hard working white Americans" that people say Obama supposedly has so much trouble with will think about his voting record on minimum wage, something like 8 votes against it?
        Not supporting our troops...

McCain's numbers look decent right now against the other side because the Dems have been fighting and McCain has had free reign, but once his negatives start showing up the picture should change.

never ask this question. instead, follow the template and ask:

          why does mccain hate veterans?

I truly think the following will happen this cycle.

            1. Hillary will get the nomination
            2. McCain will tear the Dem's a new one
            3. McCain wins in a landslide
            4.
            5. total lack of profit for everyone and the economy collapses in two years

Unless McCain loses his mind, he's going to win the November election in a massive landslide.

If it's Hillary, then many blacks will choose not to vote.
If it's Obama, Hillary has made made damn sure "working class" whites should fear the black man.

Obama is entirely too clear in what he says.

McCain is like 7 different guys---voters will find one of those 7 acceptable and vote for him.

except, not enough of them to actually elect him.

Hillary is too GWB to not get the nomination. She will stop at nothing and she will get it. I can't stand her, but my gut tells me she is the nominee.

                  I hope it is wrong

His reason for opposing the bill was...

                      ....wait for it....

                      ....wait for it....

....if we made benefits for veterans too good too soon, people would get out of the military earlier.

                          Kah's totally correct.

He is opposed to better benefits for veterans because it could hurt retention.

McCain has a 30 percent rating from the Disabled American Veterans, a non-partisan advocacy group. There's a reason McCain doesn't have support of many veterans.
His mind is not for rent, to any god or government.

Dems need to pound the media with this stuff, god knows the "liberal" media hasn't been doing it.
