  • Hey, it's an early NCAAF preseason top ten.

Not that they matter, but what the heck, it's football talk.

    http://collegefootball.rivals.com/co...asp?CID=804649

    1. Georgia
The Bulldogs felt they were stiffed on a trip to the BCS title game last season. They'll find an invitation stuffed in their mailbox this season, thanks to a veteran defense and dynamic offense led by QB Matthew Stafford and RB Knowshon Moreno. Woof, woof.

    2. Ohio State
The team you love to say isn't worthy of BCS title-game appearances will be knocking on the door for a third year in a row, buoyed by one of the nation's best defenses paced by LB James Laurinaitis. RB Chris Wells for the Heisman?

    3. USC
Stop me if you've heard this before – the Trojans are the most talented team in the nation. Yeah, there's a new quarterback (Mark Sanchez), but the offense won't skip a beat and the defense will be as good as ever.

    4. Oklahoma
With QB Sam Bradford and TB DeMarco Murray, the Sooners have the talent – and motivation after losing their past four BCS bowls – to get to their third BCS title game in six seasons.

    5. Florida
The Gators have the offensive weapons (see QB Tim Tebow and WR Percy Harvin) to be the class of the SEC – and the nation. But the defense must be better and a threat is needed at running back.

    6. Missouri
Is Chase Daniel the best quarterback in the nation? Of course. Is WR Jeremy Maclin the nation's deadliest weapon? You bet. The defense? It's the best in these parts since the 1960s.

    7. Texas
Remember 2005? Bevo does. That's when the Longhorns last won the national title – and the last time they had a great defense. The arrival of coordinator Will Muschamp means Texas again will have a terrific defense – and a shot at greatness.

    8. Clemson
No program has a deadly backfield trio like the Tigers with QB Cullen Harper and RBs C.J. Spiller and James Davis. Yeah, Tommy Bowden finally may get his day in the sun.

    9. Auburn
When is America going to realize Tommy Tuberville's greatness? It could happen this season with a veteran roster. But there is one problem: A quarterback has to emerge in new coordinator Tony Franklin's spread attack.

    10. West Virginia
Lost among the he said/she said Rich Rodriguez divorce headlines is that the Mountaineers still have QB Pat White and RB Noel Devine. And that makes WVU the class of the Big East.

I think Oklahoma will be better than they were last year.

There's going to be a Big 12 team with two losses that will be left out of the BCS Bowl games, that will be better than a few of those who get an invite. I still thing it's the best conference in the game.

Mizzou only has to be embarrassed once this year, right?

I'm not sure I agree. They've lost a lot, including their best defender (Lofton), several starting dbs, and several starting O-linemen (not to mention Malcolm Kelly). They also lost their leading rusher, I think. They should be able to reload and I think they'll be a top 5 team for most of the season. Stoops' recruiting classes are ridiculous every year. I think their games against Texas, at A&M, and vs. Tech will all be trying for OU. We'll see. If they get to the Big XII Championship, it's MU's year.

Preseason sports rankings are lame and pointless. Especially when the season doesn't start for what 3-4 months?

Not knocking you for posting this Bleacher...because lord knows I look at them all the time when they come out...just sayin there really isn't a point.

I agree. That why I started it out by saying "not that they matter". I just posted it to stir up some college football conversation.

I *hope* our defense is as good as advertised, but our linebackers looked pretty suspect in spring football, and they're praying and hoping Alexander (knee) and Witherspoon (labrum) will be ready to go by fall.

I would just like to take the time to say I am very excited to be moving back to Columbia this fall, and that I cannot wait for Tiger football season to begin. This is going to be fun...I hope.

I think that's why they probably looked suspect. Your two best backers were out with injury. Their back-ups are incredibly young. Those two should be ready to go come the season.

My roommate, myself and a couple of our friends went in on season tickets for Illinois last year under my roommates name. He got a letter from U of I regarding Braging Rights tickets last week. Faxed it over to them yesterday and already got confirmation that we'll be getting 8 tickets for the game! WOOT!

Something tells me they won't have any trouble selling out this year. I have a buddy who's dad has a few PSLs. Last year, he thought he could buy up to 24 seats. Does anyone know if that still holds true this year? If so, that's how I'm getting in. I just hope to remember this year's game. Too much tailgating last year. The second half was awfully rough.
