  • Dierks Bentley lands Bud Light 'Real Men of Genius' spot

    The Associated Press

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. --

Today we salute you, Dierks Bentley, Mr. Sad Country Song Songwriter.

So begins Anheuser-Busch's new "Real Men of Genius" radio spot that airs nationally this month.

Bentley, whose tour is sponsored by Anheuser-Busch's Bud Light, says he's honored to be on the same list as "Mr. Restroom Toilet Refiller" and "Mr. Push Up Bra Inventor."

"Not to mention 'Mr. Tiny Thong Bikini Wearer' and 'Mr. Bass Plaque Maker,'" adds Bentley, whose hits include "What Was I Thinkin'," "Come a Little Closer" and "Free and Easy (Down the Road I Go)."

The ad salutes the 32-year-old country star for his bravery.

"It takes a brave man to proudly announce your lowest personal moments to the world in three-part harmony," the announcer intones. "Your wife left you, your dog died and you lost your job - all before the first chorus."
