  • Horrible story: 13 year old boy killed by train in O'Fallon, IL.

His name was Jonathan Sory (more on Google name search)

The worst part is - it may not have been accidental. One of his
friends reports Sory ran to the train after a fight with a girlfriend.
Gosh, that's sad. Prayers go out to the family.

I heard his friends dared him to beat the train.

      O'FALLON --

A 13-year-old boy was killed after a train struck him at the Lincoln Ave. crossing about 3 p.m. Sunday, according to St. Clair County Coroner Rick Stone.

Jonathan J. Sory, of 8546 E. Highway 50 in Lebanon, died from head and chest injuries after he jumped in front of a CSX train that dragged him 195 feet down the train tracks, Stone said.

He was pronounced dead by Deputy Coroner Curt Schildknecht at 3:03 p.m.

        Kids shouldn't die.

Kids shouldn't jump in front of trains over girlfriends if he allegedly did so, accordimg to J. Molina.

No. I posted it upthread. It was a CSX Freight train.

People have got to explain to their kids that bf/gf stuff in your teen years (although may seem the end of the world when you go through it) but its really not the end of the world. Talking to kids is always best.

This kind of stuff makes my heart hurt.

It is a terrible, tragic thing.

He, his family and friends, the crew of the train, and the emergency responders will all be in my prayers.

Let's call a spade a spade, though: if, for whatever reason, he was intentionally on those tracks, then he committed suicide by train. The train didn't kill him. He killed himself while the crew of the train did anything/everything they could to get that train stopped.
"It would have been difficult for us to discuss it with his dick in my mouth, so evidently I don't know him that well."

Wifey's saying the news said he was skateboarding near the tracks?

I've had this happen to me. Not a pretty sight. Many sleepless evenings thinking about this. I'll never forget it. But, w/ the help of alcohol I'm doing much better. In the end it wasn't my fault and I can't help what choices people make no matter how foolish.

There is a family that we are friends with and my youngest son was dating their 18 year old daughter. Also they have a son, 21, who's in my son's fraternity. They had a 16 year old son too.

Last year 2 days before Thanksgiving he put himself in front of a Metra commuter train at rush hour. Apparently this was shortly after a fight he had with his mom.

The parents are now shells of their former selves. I can't imagine anything worse than that.

How about having both of your daughters killed in a car accident because a state cop was playing CHIP's?
Nature always sides with the hidden flaw.

We will have to repent in this generation not merely for the hateful words and actions of the bad people but for the appalling silence of the good people.
