  • Meteor Shower Alert!!!

ETA AQUARID METEORS: In a few days, Earth will enter a stream of dust from Halley's Comet and this will cause the annual eta Aquarid meteor shower. Forecasters say 2008 should be a good year for eta Aquarids with as many as 70 meteors per hour visible from tropical and southern latitudes. The best time to look: during the dark hours before dawn on May 5th and 6th when the shower peaks. Stay tuned for updates.

ETA AQUARID METEORS: If you see a meteor flit across the sky tonight, it's probably a piece of Halley's Comet. Earth is crossing through a stream of dusty debris from Halley and this is causing the annual eta Aquarid meteor shower. Sky watchers in the tropics and southern hemisphere (where the shower is most intense) could see as many as 70 meteors per hour during the dark hours before dawn on Monday, May 5th, and Tuesday, May 6th. Sky maps: north, south.

Tomorrow night and Tuesday night? I work a night shift Tuesday. Might go out and look. What better place to stargaze than LA County?

No tonight and tomorrow night just before sunrise is the best time to look.
