How does one go about finding the password to one's router? I found the page but of course the password is this ************. And no I don't remember where I wrote it down.

I'm trying to connect my laptop to the wireless network.

    Did you ever change it?

    If not, try "admin"
When you say to your neighbor, "We're having a loud party on Saturday night if that's alright with you," what you really mean is, "We're having a loud party on Saturday night."

If you have already tried "password" and "dlink" (or whatever brand your router is), then your only option is to hard-reset the router, which will bring it back to its default state. Usually there's a recessed button you push with a pin.

Think about it - you don't want your password to be retrievable, do you?

Yeah, "admin" is another common one.

I know what you cats are talking about but I'm talking about the password to the router itself. The 16 character one.

            Like the WPA password?

IF you haven't changed it you may be able to look at your owner's manual and find out the factory-loaded password.

If you've changed it from the factory-loaded password, you're SOL.

Do you mean the WEP password for over the air connection, i.e. the passphrase/security key? That's not available at all, generally. See if you can reset it to something else. If you can't, sometimes you can work around it by disabling security entirely, rebooting the router, then re-enabling security. LinkSys routers will generally clear the password field in that case.

                  Thats what I'm talking 'bout.

Now, after I tried to reset it it's asking me for a name and password. How in the HELL do they expect me to remember that? I mean, c'mon.

                  It looks like I'm fooked.

You should be able to log into the router and find that, right? At least I think I can on my linksys.

Once logged in, I didn't think your other passwords were concealed.

I could be wrong, though. Obviously, its your router config =]

Yep, I cannot see the WEP password. I have 'Daniel' helping me now. Much fun shall follow.

I'm thinking of getting the Porter-Cable 3 1/4 HP plunge router when I get next month's disability check.
