  • I saw two tornadoes on our last day on the great chase.

Up until yesterday, the weather was total suck as far as severe weather on the Great Plains was concerned. But finally on yesterday near Bridgeport Texas, we struck paydirt. TWO twisters for the price of one. Pics will be coming as soon as one of the guys sends them to me. My camera got broken during the excitement.

    YAH, WHAT A RUSH!!!!

Oh and the other bit of good news is that my trip to England will now take place in June, for three weeks, instead of the six starting in early May. My bosses decided to send two teams instead of one. So Vanessa and I will leave after Memorial Day.

Aren't you guys glad to have me back???

You went on a vacation to track tornados? I have to admit, that's something I never would have thought of.

Wasn't it you who predicted the hiatus wouldn't last?

All tornado chases have to end sometime. We did meet some very nice people out on the plains of America. We stayed in places like Guymon Ok and Garden City Kansas, as well as Amarillo and Wichita Falls.

Did you see any cows flying past you or drive through a house as it tumbled across the road? Leave your current beau for your ex-wife because you had more fun chasing tornados with her than chasing tail? Did you have a rag-tag group of lovable scientists to hang with?

Seriously, sounds pretty cool. Glad you had a good time and stayed safe.

Not to be noesy, but how much does that cost?

I have an old Air Force buddy who now works for the NSSL in Norman, OK. A couple friends from Indy picked me up last Thursday and we drove down to OKC. Barry (NSSL) was scheduled to do his field work during that period. So he got the clearance to allow three others to pile into the Surburban during the trip. He used the NSSL gas card. We had to pay for our own hotels and meals.

I understand that some of the commercial packages can run as high as $1,800 for a week.

What did you think of the smell of Garden City?

It smelled ok to me. However, with the number of Mexicans that I saw, I would swear that town was in Texas and near the border.
