    He's edging out Paul Konerko

      ``If you want to rely on statistics, you're going to be in for a disappointment because they will disappoint you.''
      ``He's turning double plays as good as any shortstop that we've ever had in the years I've been managing,'' La Russa said.
      Izturis will probably have to die.
      His mind is not for rent, to any god or government.

        ESPN has a handy feature where you can sort hitting stats by people who are qualified for the batting title.

        Surprisingly, there are six people hitting worse than Cesar Izturis. Alfonso Soriano (!) and Troy Tulowitski (!!!) are two of them. Adam LaRoche is off to the worst start in the league, hitting .123.

        A little bit scary to think that the Cubs are off to a 12-6 start while getting absolutely nothing from Soriano.

                  It's the genius of La Russa. He was given Sneezer Izturis -- so he tells the GM Izturis sucks by batting the pitcher in front of him.

                    So I've been trying to figure out who Izturis reminds me of, and I recently got it...

                    You know that really old Seinfeld where the gang is at a retaurant (not the diner) and the menu catches on fire and George puts it out and then accidentally blames it on the busboy and the busboy gets fired and then George and Kramer go to his apartment and they leave the door open and his cat runs away...

                    Izturis looks like the busboy. Seriously, think about it.
                    Of course you do.

                      Many a season the Cubs have been hot in April and May...and in many a season...they have been;

                      C-ompletely
                      U-seless
                      B-y
                      S-eptember

                      That said...they are probably the favorites to win the division and should be based on what we can see on paper...the one factor in our favor...is their very Cubness.

                          The better question is how long does LaRussa keep running him out there with his .190 average?
