  • 'Put Up Or Shut Up' contest winner declines show @ 590

Bruce Veach, one of the tri-winners of the KFNS open tryouts contest has declined to take the show. He was to be the lead host of the three man gig. "I turned it (the show) down," said Veach. "It was going to involve more time than I initially thought it would. Therefore I'm not going to pursue it. "

Veach is formerly the radio play-by-play voice of McKendree College men's basketball. He now works as the public address announcer for Wash. U
men and women home games. He was once quoted in USATODAY after Harry Statham won his 900th career game at McKendree some years ago.

In other broadcast news........"The gibbon at the St. Louis Zoo is still in discussions w/ KFNS 590 about the same job/contest. Currently the feeling is that the gibbon has a very good job at the present time and the pay is far better than what KFNS has offered. No truth to the rumor though that a former host at the station has entered FOX's new show "Biggest Mouth/Smallest Brain."
