  • Miguel Tejada ages two years overnight

Astros general manager Ed Wade was recently informed that Tejada was actually born on May 25, 1974, as opposed to May 25, 1976, as listed in the club's media guide. The slick-fielding Astros shortstop is actually 33 years old and will soon be 34.

Also, Carlos Lee could be lying about his weight.

i suspect there are a lot of age issues with a lot of the latin players. i for one will be shocked if pujols plays until he is "40".

All the latin players with suspect ages were guys signed out of the baseball schools systems there. Albert Pujols was not part of that--he played his baseball in America for local high schools.

People have been looking to bust Pujols on that since his first year. They haven't found shit and I am willing to claim victory for Pujols on this one. He is the age he says he is.

so he couldnt have come to america and lied about his age in his teens? ok.

like i said, we shall see if he makes it to his "40's".

whatever. He was in highschool here in America.

If you can be 20 and a sophomore in highschool then that's a real trick.

Wasn't the government supposed to "fix" age issues after 9.11?

The report re: Tejada states that all his paperwork listed him as 1974, but he apparently duped the A's/O's/Astros into thinking otherwise...

you mean like the kid from new york that went through school for a couple of years and made it through the little league world series without getting caught lying about his age? only after did someone bust him.

what do you think the american high schools are the equal of the cia in their aggression of uncovering such. it is my experience the school systems cant even patrol residency let alone birth certificates.

btw, my remarks are not a slap at anything albert has accomplished. he is simply the best hitter in baseball period. that has nothing to do with his rightful age.

as i said above, my bets are he never see's 40 in the major leagues. that doesnt mean he wont be a cardinal star and best in baseball another 5 or 6 seasons.

conspiracy theory away to your heart's content. You know joe sports journalist has been crawling up Albert's ass to find out his "real" age and no one's come up with a fuckin thing. I'm saying they won't. I was even willing to put off the illegal roids stuff, but no one's found anything there either. So I say he's clean there too.

It's possible that the guy is just that good.
