He'll make a great replacement at second base when Rickie Weeks makes his annual DL trip. He's tall so he must have good range.

If only he was left-handed...he'd be a better fit

They'll need him when Sheets starts making his thrice yearly trips to the DL.

Dear God, KBF here. I'd just like to say thanks, once again, for allowing Dusty Baker and I to live during the same time period. Every time I think he's given me his last gift -- overpitching Prior in the playoffs, getting cocky in Game 6 vs. the Angels, blowing another game for the Cubs -- he does something stupid like pitching to Albert Pujols. Thy will be done, baby!!!!!

Boras did an awesome job with Weaver and Lohse this year. Can't help but think that if either pitcher had a less-obnoxious agent, that both could've signed longer deals for more guaranteed money.

The bigger mistake with Weaver was last offseason. I doubt there was much of a market for him after his awful year in SEA.

Lohse is a different story. We got a bargain.

The Brewers already have 6 starters and just released Vargas. If they wanted Weaver why didnt they just keep Vargas? I guess Weaver signed a minor league deal since he will start at AAA, right?
“I’ve always stated, ‘I’m a Missouri Tiger,’” Anderson said March 13 after Arkansas fired John Pelphrey, adding, “I’m excited about what’s taking place here.”

Asked then if he would talk to his players about the situation, he said, “They know me, and that’s where the trust comes in.

Extended spring training then AAA. But yes he would have to sign a minor league deal ala Roger Clemens.

Darryl (Southlake, Texas): Buster, what's next for Jeff Weaver?

Buster Olney: Darryl: It would make a lot of sense for him to find a way back to St. Louis, don't you think? It seems he had a good thing going with the Cardinals and Dave Duncan. I know some talent evaluators kind of wonder if he might be done as an effective major-league pitcher, which is really incredible, considering that he is just 31 years old...
