  • REYES SUCKS!!!!!

It's just one game, but I truly wonder if Duncan or TLR will have any positive comments about him now. Thankfully Mozeliak convinced them to keep him on the big league club.

Maybe this is the start Anthony needed to come into his own.

I truly saw Tony praise Anthony after the game. Called him the player of the game. Said his performance was huge and they don't win without him.

      Sample size, yada, yada, yada...

Nice to see him build up his value and pitch well...

They said nice things about him after his first relief outing when he struck out the side, and put their money where their words were and gave him a chance to pitch in the next game, with the game on the line...and he reverted back to being Anthony Reyes, headcase.

He'll never amount to anything without a nice sinker...
. . . and to tell you this: I work with gays, have friends who are gay, go to church with gays. Most of them are aware that I believe that homosexual behavior is sin. Some of them actually agree. Most don't. It's OK . . . because they also know or at least have been made aware of my multitude of sins: adulterous heart, lustful and covetous behavior, wicked pride, angry spirit . . . do I need to go on?

            Very kah-like, Trig.

            One question:
Isn't this guy a little too young to be given a label already?

Here's a blurb from the game story in the Post:

"Pitching coach Dave Duncan described the outing as impressive.

More comfortable referring to himself as a power pitcher, Reyes resembled his self-image.

"I feel good," he said. "My mechanics are coming back. I just feel a lot smoother when I'm throwing the ball. I just feel like I'm on the right track."

Reyes wasn't the only one to note the in-house radar. "When you don't have a great deal of movement, velocity is important," Duncan said.
              "

In other words, Reyes isn't pitching the way I told him to, therefore I won't allow myself to be impressed THAT much.

That's the Duncan byline for EVERY pitcher he works with.

Actually, I think what he's saying is regardless at what level you are pitching, the better your fastball, the better off you are. Anthony was hitting the upper 80s last year in some games. Someone said he was hitting 94 or 95 last night. Huge difference. Reyes admitted to having a flaw or two with his mechanics last year as well.

He was hanging with OJ trying to find the real killers...

His fastball had some life behind it last night (he topped out at 93 at least twice)...

Hot gun? who knows, but he's pitched better in two of his three relief appearances, so he's got that going for him....

Izzy hit 93 with a fastball down in the zone, so the gun would seem to be a bit on the fast side.

What's dhaab-like? To poop yourself over one three-inning relief stint?

I hope this is predictive of Reyes' future. I sincerely do. It would help the Cardinals tremendously. But he has looked awesome on occasion before, and those Awesome Reyes Moments have, to date, been tiny islands in an ocean of shittiness.

Let's see him repeat his success. For, I dunno, a month.

So you're saying the Astros have some shitty hitters?
