"When you say 'radical right' today, I think of these moneymaking ventures by fellows like Pat Robertson and others who are trying to take the Republican Party and make a religious organization out of it. If that ever happens, kiss politics goodbye."
It's an incredible mix of athletics and aesthetics. The only event I look forward to each year as much as The Masters is the baseball playoffs. Granted, Tiger started off 2008 playing at a level few have ever reached, but there are others who are also playing great golf. I wouldn't be surprised if either Sergio, Ogilvy, Stenson, Stricker, or (my hope) Boo Weekley challenge Tiger.

Tiger has to be the favorite. Where he's really excelled this year is on the greens, and if he has the touch on these greens, he's likley going to win.
That being said, based on current season putting and being in the top ten last season, look for Luke Donald and Padraig Harrington to play well.
You also have to like the players that traditionally play well there l ike Goosen, Mickelson and Singh.

when is putting not the key to winning at Augusta? It's one of the few courses that doesnt reward long drives, but rather good chipping and strong putting.
But, you're right...Donald and Harrington will be in the mix. Should be a great event.

I agree with the chipping and putting piece, but the ability to bomb the ball at Augusta helps as well. Especially the way it has been lengthened in the last 10 years. Even if you put it in the rough, you're not penalized.
It makes it a hell of a lot easier to attack the 13th and 15th in two if you can bomb the ball and have a mid iron in as opposed to a long iron or even a fairway metal. Especially on 15 with water in front and behind the green.
Also, I'd much rather be 150 out of the second cut of rough, than 200 from the fairway there. At Augusta it's all about positioning the ball around the green and knowing where you can and can't miss. I'll gladly take my chances with a 9 iron or wedge from 150 out of the rough than with a 6 or 7 from 200...the rough is such that you're not going to get a lot of 'jumpers' or buried lies.

Just my opinion.
I cant disagree with anything you said. My point was that so many courses reward drives over chipping/putting skills, whereas Augusta minimizes this. But, your points above are pretty much spot on.
