  • Well - those new closers for the Brewers and Cubs sure look good

    With identical era's of 27 -
Wood and Gagne both give the Cards hope - and everyone's surprise team the Reds with Corey Patterson leading off - lost to the D-Backs 4 -2.

Just one day of games -

But I like it. I like it a lot.

Gagne...did the Krew really think he'd be servicable??

Wood...he's a much better bet, but he'll be hurt by June.

      Exactly -

Whomever signed Gagne gets the vote for the "smartest idiot alive"

Anyone expecting Wood to last all season gets second place.

It will be the undoing of both clubs should either get to the post-season.

Gagne...seriously...did they not see him in TX and w/ the Sux last year??

I'm thinking - they should have had him pee in a cup.

At the least - see a shrink or something. He was the worst pitcher on the Sox last year - and they won the WS by not using him.

Wood won't be closing in June, Marmol or Wuertz will be. Marmol is flat out nasty.

They think he's going to be $10 million worth of servicable this year. I guess they also thought he would time warp back to 4 years ago as well.

Yes, but Marmol will be dealing with an elbow injury in the next few years. His delivery has elbow problems written all over it.

I think Gagne will be fine. Not Ecksersley or anything, but not horrible. He really wasn't that bad last year.

No idea on Wood. He could be very good; he could be bad if he's walking/hitting people.

Gagne was actually pretty good last year with the Red Sox in the 9th inning. His ERA in the 8th inning in a save situation was 10.38. But when he was used in the 9th in a save situation, his ERA was 1.96. So I think he'll be an adequate closer for the Brewers.

Gagne was very good with Texas.

Marmol is a flat out stud and will be the closer soon.
