As most of you know my job is hiring like crazy right now. So I did what I thought was the right thing and hired a friend of mine. Hard worker, caught on fast, got along w/ everybody.

So the time comes up for the drug test. Now he and I partied like Ozzy back in the day so I asked him if he needed help w/ this test, meaning I could move the test back for him or he could try that cleansing stuff. He assured me that he could pass. Guess what happened.

Doing that crap in this day and age is foolish IMO. I'm not against drugs yet almost every good job requires a drug test and it's common knowledge. Maybe not so much in the IT sector because nothing happens that requires heavy equipment or any physical labor whatsoever (pussies). Lol

A few questions. have drugs now been sectioned off to the point where high end users only can do them and still stay employed? Should every job have drug testing? Should there be drug testing to obtain a driver's license?

    Fuck this, Ima go toke.

I had a job once and they hired a sales manager who pushed hard for drug testing. Since the owner didn't want to be a hypocrite, he told him no way would drug testing be implemented.

Thinking like that is a thing of the past. Now your customers can mandate that their suppliers have a drug-free workplace.

Of course in the line of work you're in now it doesn't matter much what your customers think.

I work for a global company and I was shocked that they did not require a drug test when I was hired. Not that it would have mattered, but I couldn't believe they didn't require one.

You should have been more shocked when they hired Guppy.

I don't think they have a drug test for Viagra.

The last drug test I took was in 2000 and that was for the Lutheran Synod of all people. Three jobs later, I have not had one and it kind of shocked me just because the nature of the business and what I am dealing with. I did however have background checks done to make sure I had a clean or acceptable record for a couple of them.

that was when I worked for a computer place. It was a very small business (under 30 employees).

I've never been a fan of the idea of drug testing. I think if you party too hard and suck at your job then that kind of takes care of that. I think that if you party and it doesn't affect your work then what's the problem.

I've never had one...but, given the situation...that isnt strange.

I did have to take one two weeks ago for new insurance since I am the co. head...it was required.

Hadnt smoked a doob in ages and had a few took like 3 weeks ago...I was paranoid.

                    Luckily...I passed. Not sure how..

Good for you CG. What a person does on their time, unless it affects their job performance, is nobodys business. I actually turned down a couple of job offers because of drug testing and background checks. Nosey bastards.
