Help needed: Old W2s

I need to get a hold of about 4 years worth of W-2 Forms from tax year 1998-2001, in order to calculate the cost basis for some stock I purchased as an employee of Compaq Computer Corporation (now Hewlett Packard). I contacted HP, but they aren't going to be able to get me the info I need in time (I need to send in the amended 2006 return and my payment/penalty by April 9)...

Anyone have any recommendations??? I've seen a couple companies that do this online, but they don't appear to go back that far (2003 is the earliest I saw)...getting it from the IRS directly will take 6 weeks...

Any help is appreciated...snide remarks or feeble attempts at humor are also appreciated, so long as it's funny

Nope. I did them. I've done them every year I've been employed. I've also screwed something up every year I've done them. This one is the worst fuckup yet. I may have someone do them for me from now on just so I don't have to deal with this shit every year.

I used to do them myself, last year I did the HR Block online program where I fill in everything online and they calculate it, look it over and efile for me.

I think I have a handle on this. I found some paperwork that shows who administered the ESPP for Compaq - I'm going to call them tomorrow and have them send me all my account info for this. From that I should be able to figure out the cost basis for the originally purchased shares.
