Did you intentionally leave out the part of the article where it talks about how TCK is going to "tour" the minor league games going on and sneak in an at-bat from field to field? That was in the article I read this morning.

TCK should feel right at home on those minor league fields. Hell, those fields should still be where he "earns" his living.

No he hasn't. He has 600+ ABs spread over parts of three seasons. For a few months in 2006 and three months in 2007 he has shown, in limited duty, that he can hit the ball far off of RH pitchers who throw too many mistakes, if you are careful to pick the right spots for him, and if he is healthy and/or available. He will stay in the majors because he shares the last name of the guy in the dugout, who happens to be picking those spots for him. The second half of 2007, he was abysmal in the batter's box. Just lost. He appears to continue to be lost. Yet, if you listen to the ones with the monogrammed drool rags around here, they would have us believe that Chris Duncan is an "established ML veteran." Horse hockey.

I will concede the fact that he may very well be the least skilled OFer in the NL though. He has established that.

I love when people try to pretend that Duncan has gotten no favorable treatment. Can you think of any other Cardinal OFers who have been allowed to learn the position at the ML level? According to Tony, he doesn't do any teaching and developing at the ML level. Unless of course you are Dave Duncan's ill-evolved hoosier kid.

With the history and traditions of Cardinal baseball on the defensive side of the ball, it is nothing but another big middle finger to Cardinal fans to run Chris Duncan out to the OF. The same middle finger Cardinal fans have enjoyed from LaRussa for twelve long years now. Back at ya, Skip.

You left out my favorite, the half-page thread in which it is speculated upon that somehow the arthroscopic surgery on Carp in April of last year *caused* his torn elbow ligament. According to the grassy knollists, Carpenter's elbow was just fine--other than severe inflammation and bone spurs, and the Cardinals botched his 'scope.

No amount of the few sane people there pointing out that when a pitcher has inflammation and bone chips, it's usually a good indicator that major ligament damage is on the horizon was able to dissuade the pitchforks and torches crowd.
