    Vista Service Packing, that is.

Vista SP1 was pushed to Windows Update yesterday, and I'm revelling in the service pack-y goodness. Get yours now.

Just to keep your nutsack tingling... Internet Explorer 8's Open Beta is about to move to RC stage - it'll be here soon. And its biggest upgrade is... wait for it... FULL COMPLIANCE TO W3C STANDARDS!

Everyday I strap on my pants I'm packing.
From this day forward, I no longer shall tinker with the machinery of death.

For more than 20 years I have endeavored-indeed, I have struggled-along with a majority of this Court, to develop procedural & substantive rules that would lend more than the mere appearance of fairness to the death penalty endeavor.

I feel morally and intellectually obligated simply to concede that the death penalty experiment has failed.

The path the Court has chosen lessens us all. I dissent.

Have you joined us in the 21st century, or are you reading this on an old-fashioned, woodburning computer?

          ++

Not a word. But I'm happy for him.

Intel introduced five new processors, nVidia two new video cards and a new mobo chipset, all yesterday. I'm building a new machine.

I have managed to hook up a router, wireless card, turn on my computer, click on Firefox, and talk to you. That dates me to, what 2003. I do not try "zip" porn to my computer, or otherwise battle that computer in the movie War Games, with my laptop. I have, however, had an RC Cola. Tasty bad.

What exactly does Worldwide Web Consortium compliance (that's right, I know what it stands for ) mean to Joe computer user?

Anyway, glad to hear there's a SP out for Vista, since I'll be getting a new 'puter myself next week.

W3C compliance means that, at least in theory, web authors should be able to read the standards dox and design websites that will run on any compliant browser, instead of coding for the quirks of IE. I'm sure there are people here who will tell you what a pain it is to get their sites to work properly on various browsers.

IOW, nothing. This should never have been an issue to begin with.

Unfortunately even full WC3 compatibility will not remove the cross-browser compatibility headaches....but they should reduce them (in theory)

I don't get it. Can you explain what you mean by that? Is this an inside knowledge thing for you and your close friends?

It'd be nice if they could fix this damn embedding issue too....It's annoying having to switch to FF every time I want to post a video.

And I don't use FF because it chugs a bit on my system. Not bad, but IE's faster.
