  • The beginning of the end for Obama

Yep, it's time for another fearless prediction.

He's giving what's being billed as a "major speech" on race tomorrow. Apparently will try to put the Rev. Wright in context, or whatever. He's still getting peppered with questions about this minister.

A Rasmussen poll -- I saw it on Huffington Post -- says 56 percent of Americans, including 44 percent of Democrats, say the Rev. Wright's remarks make it less likely they will vote for Obama.

He was the guy who was going to transcend race. I'm not sure how he does it. That had better be one good speech.

I think this is the end for Obama. It will give super-delegates a reason to question whether he can win. And I see his white support fading quickly.

    Rebuttal?

His minister's comments actually made me like him more. Does that mean something is wrong with me?

              Kenny -

If White America won't vote for him because of that - White America has the issues and not Obama.

Either America looks at Change as a work in progress or it stays in the same cesspool.

              My prediction is this -

It's an election - he's winning - and he will win.

He ain't winning if White American has "issues" with him.

Let's face it, this isn't the best-known guy on the block. People are drawn to him and respond to his message. And, so far, that message has been that we can rise above our past and historic differences and solve some of the country's problems.

That isn't the same message that minister has been saying. And this isn't some guy who happened to endorse Obama. This is his minister for 20 years, his self-described "spiritual mentor," the guy who gave him the title of his book.

I like Obama, but I have a lot more questions about him today than I had yesterday. You can't tell me that Obama has been sitting in that church for 20 years and not had some idea that the minister had problems with whites. And by staying there, that suggests to me that Obama might have problem with whites.

If that's true, so be it. But I guess we can then stop pretending that he's "transcending race."

You have to think Obama was sitting in church thinking about running for President one day, and imagining how everything he's ever done in his life is going to be put under a microscope for scrutiny. He's hearing those sermons, and he has to think to himself: do I want to be associated with this guy? Ever since he's been in politics, and even long after he was getting lots of votes in the primaries, the answer to this question has been "Yes, I'll be associated with this guy." Now he sees that's a big mistake and he's trying to distance himself. By doing so, he's admitted that the things that preacher stood for, that he aligned himself with for all those years, are wrong. And now America sees that when the spotlight wasn't on him, he was embracing that church. He deserves taking the hit for it. This is a past he can't run from.

Have you asked yourself why so many black americans feel the way of his minister? Like Schwa said, this is the perfect out for many white Americans. Maybe it was a pipe dream to think this country had changed that much.

It makes him look as opportunistic as his opponent. Which, when you've cast yourself as someone who's "above the fray," can pose a problem.

Wait until Michelle refuses to repudiate or denounce or reject or whatever you want to call it the minister's words. That should be fun.

What, exactly, is supposed to "change" -- our acceptance over a minister saying "God damn America" and "the chickens have come home to roost" after 9/11?

No, you're right. This country hasn't changed that much when it comes to crap like this.....

                          Kenny - I hear you.

Let me ask you a question?

Have you heard more about Obama's minister or WMD's. Where there more questions asked about WMD's or Obama's minister?

Obama's minister or the college kids paper that Colin Powell tried to pass off at the UN as a reason to invade Iraq?

Obama's minister or the billions missing in Iraq?

                          Just a few more questions?

Why is it that White people see red when a Black man speaks even though the Black man has not inflected the damage on this countries future that Bush has? Should Rev Wright had said God Bless America now give me 3 trillion please?

Obama has already said he doesn't agree with those comments - so what would please White America.

Obama killing Wright in a square?

                          What more could he do?

And why is the media still obsessed with something not nearly as important as troops getting blown to bits and the country becoming bankrupt?

I still want to know why it's OK for you to make this a race question. His pastor is nutz. McCain's clerical supporter is nutz. What does their race have to do with it?

Why isn't Obama's denouncement of the Reverend enough?

It's not like the Reverend is on Obama's staff nor, according to Obama himself, was he (Obama) at the surmon in question.
