  • Big 12 B-ball Championship

For whatever reason, I haven't been interested in watching college basketball this year. But I tuned into the Big 12 championship between Kansas and Texas. Heck of game. One of the best I've seen in years, with both teams making tremendous plays. Anyone else watch it?
On my mind: How can I shut up the singing English graduate student? How many more lossess will KU's basketball team have than its football team? How will the Rams front office screw up this year?

I hate missing that game today, as I had some errands to run. I think these two teams have a real shot at getting to the Final Four.

It was a good one. Augustine was just sick in the first half for Texas. Chalmers was unstoppable today for Kansas. Both teams played strong, intense defense...to which the other team responded by hitting tough shots. Just a fun game to watch.

As a Mizzou fan all I can do now is root for the other big 12 teams...... even KU.

Tough season for the Tigers. There was a lot of "un doing" that needed to be done after Quinny left.

I will pull for Texas, but no way I would pull for KU unless it's a matchup with someone I dislike more....

Ultimately, I am pulling for Wisconsin.....in addition, I would like to see Drake and Butler do well.....

Please tell me Anderson has some good recruits coming in next season. I have totally lost interest in Mizzou basketball, and I used to never miss one of their games.

I feel like I've entered some bizarro alternate universe b/c this year I really cared about and watched MU football, and I only watched bits and pieces of a few MU BB games.

That was me too. I bet I didn't watch an entire half of any Mizzou basketball game this year. Last year either.

I usually do, yeah. I think the football season was so exciting this year that it just drained my normal enthusiasm for basketball. No matter what this team does, its going to be a disappointment compared to the football team. Unless they win it all, which is unlikely.

I also get fed up with KU basketball fans who think that 30-3 with a 3rd round loss is a "failure." They're expectations are a little high. The tournament is important, but I don't see any reason to ignore the other 30+ games on any teams' schedule.

Bill Self coached teams tend to disappiont in the tourney.

I don't see the Elite 8 as a disappointment. The previous two teams were full of freshmen and sophomores, I'm hardly surprised they lost early to good teams. This is what I'm talking about...the expectations are ridiculous.

And, he's not any worse than Roy was for a big stretch of his career.

Yep, outside of those first few years when the coaching change went into effect, the overall team performance hasn't been that much different with the exception of a couple years in a row when KU made the final four and then the finals with Heinrich, Gooden and Collinson and then minus Gooden the next year when Carmelo Anthony set the college basketball world on fire the year and Syracuse beat KU in the final. I thought I remembered a pretty good KU team getting beat in the first round in 97 or 98 too when Roy was at the helm with a pretty good squad including LaFrenz and Pierce.
