Girardi and Don Zimmer were trading snipes in the media over a Yankees catcher who got run over at the plate by a Rays baserunner last week. This has to be related.

In the home half of the first, the Yankees' Shelley Duncan escalated the incident by sliding hard into second base, clearing both benches. Play halted for several minutes as the two clubs engaged in shoving, and at least one punch appeared to be thrown.
        Those Duncan boys...

And seriously, who names their son "Shelley?"

The top picture looks like the Rays player is trying to give the Yanks player a weggie

I am willing to bet you are wrong. Will the infielder be out 8-10 weeks with a broken wrist?

Would you guys be upset if Yadi (or in your case Geo Soto) was lost for 2-3 months due to being bowled over in a play at the plate in a spring training game? I sure would.

                          So right back at you.

If that spike had been a few inches to the right, I'd say he'd have been out with a lot worse than a broken wrist.

I'm not sure any on-field act can justify spiking another player in the junk. Mind you, that pic is the only visual I have on the slide, so it could be a bad angle.

so the spikes up is okay to do since the catcher has a broken wrist?
