Then at 8, my, Kmeyer's and chiguy's alma mater will play for a back-to-back state championship. BTW, they sucked when we were there.

FWIW, On the other side of the river my Mt. Vernon Rams are playing Champaign Central in the IL state 3A quarterfinals in Springfield on Tuesday night.

What a crap day......my cousin and his St. Charles West teammates played a very bad second half and couldn't get anything to drop, losing to Cape Notre Dame.......then the alma mater drops one to Webster....I didn't think the Statesmen had a chance in hell to win this game with McCluer North's big three....

why does everyone call the Columbia schools "Columbia Hickman and Columbia Rock Bridge". Sure there is another Hickman but they got Mills at the end of their name and the original name of the Columbia school was Columbia High School. Where there is only one Rock Bridge. We don't call the Parkway's "St Louis Parkway (direction)".

Back in my day the only thing either Hickman or Rock Bridge won was a state baseball title. We had a golf individual state champ and a wrestling state champ too. Jeff City would just kick our (Hickman) ass at everything and Rock Bridge was not big enough then to play on our level.

I think, for me, it's just force of habit...when I was there Rock Bridge ws new enough it was "Columbia Rock Bridge" because other wise no body would know who they were or where they were from...I'm all for dropping the Columbia part. Less to type.

It is ok if you do it for some school like Notre Dame, but no need to do it for the only two schools in Columbia

Well, I hear there's going to be a 3rd HS in CoMo sometime in the near future...Then it can be "Columbia New School" til people get used to it.

Yeah, at the state/district level we would be Springfield Hillcrest...

If anybody knew anything about history and state parks one would know who Hickman was named after (David H. Hickman) and what state park Rock Bridge was named after (Rock Bridge) there would not be a need to know what city the two schools are from.

Springfield was always the names of the schools without the city to us except for Central because there are so many "Central" schools in the state.

They say Kansas City Rockhurst a lot too.

I don't know why everyone prefixes with Columbia...habit I guess.

Anderson's daughter played for Hickman, who lost to "The Bridge" in districts. Anderson had 40+ points (I believe) in the losing effort. She's the real deal. The rest of her teammates only scored 8 or 10 points (if my memory serves me....)
