My goodness, I really hope he puts the brakes on the path he's on now. It's up to him, but I do hope that no of his family and friends ever give up trying.

At this point, I don't think it's important for us to know exactly what substance, or substances are causing his problem. Whatever his demons are, he needs to seriously address them before it's too late.

Guess the drinking at clubs during the nights while rehabbing during the day gave it away, eh?

It sounds like he doesn't want to be bothered with anyone to me. Intervention time.

This looks like the perfect time to engage in some unfair second-guessing -- should the Cardinals have known about this before they offered him the two-year contract, or did he not exhibit this strange behavior before this?

And let's also take the opportnity to pile on Tony LaRussa -- don't you sometimes get the feeling that he wouldn't really care if a guy was sniffing glue in the dugout as long as he hit?

There. That ought to get this puppy over 30-40 pages.

Does an agent ever stop selling? Come on dude.

Meister, Spiezio's agent, believes the Cardinals' decision to release his client is a mistake, robbing Spiezio of not only his profession but also his hopes and dreams.
"He has been clean and sober for some time now," Meister says. "This was a devastating thing to him. I think he was about to be one of the great success stories in 2008."

Be glad that your client is still getting paid by the Cardinals.
