ST. LOUIS --
A 47-season run of having a Buck in the booth for St. Louis Cardinals games is coming to an end.
Joe Buck said this week he is dropping his role as a broadcaster of Cardinal games for FSN Midwest, even though he'll do some national games at Busch Stadium for Fox Sports.
He has been doing play-by-play for some games every season since his debut at age 21, in 1991.
His father, Jack Buck, joined the team's radio broadcast in 1954, took a year off in 1960 and then returned as the voice of the Cardinals until falling ill after the 2001 season. He died the following year.
Joe Buck has gone on to become the lead play-by-play man for both baseball and the NFL for the Fox network.
