  • New Nationals ballpark

I know we have some Loungers in the D.C. area so I wonder what their thoughts on the new ballpark are:

From the outside, it still looks kinda dumpy--they've got all sorts of machinery and various construction site leftovers to clean up.

First game is on the 22nd--college game.

Nats first game is an exhibition against the Orioles on the 29th.

Opening day against the Braves is the 30th on ESPN.

My first game probably won't hit to mid-to-late April.

I hear they're planting a lot of cherry blossom trees behind the left field stands.

      That'll look interesting.

          Doesn't really look that great.

It'll look better when it's all polished up and ready for opening day, but those are some weird angles in the outfield.

If you have to use both hands to count the number of angles the outfield wall has then it's not a real ballpark.

                  It looks better than Busch.

Speaking of the new Busch, I was listening to Charlie Brennan on KMOX yesterday morning. It looks like they're no close to starting the ballpark village than they were a year ago.

Anything and I mean ANYTHING will be an upgrade over RFK. Out of all the ballparks I've been to, that was the worst one.

They did what they could with RFK, but there wasn't much to work with there.

I'm kind of excited to see it all done. As much as I like the retroparks, I think it's terrific they decided to try something different with this park and try to match it to the architecture of the city and go for a more modern feel with it.

all the new old ballparks are starting to look the same.

but, a HUGE upgrade over RFK and Olympic Stadium to be sure.

The main thing I love about the "retro" parks is that they blend in the local skylines into the atrmosphere. That is the main thing I love about the new Busch.
