GATOR GATE: Gatorade is back on the menu at the Jewish Community Center. About two years ago a super-orthodox member of the J complained that the Gatorade the health club was selling did not have a Rabbinical certificate, which states a product was made in accordance with kosher standards. Gatorade is not inherently unkosher, but the ultra-orthodox were uncomfortable about the certification. Most soft drinks have such a certificate, which, according to those in the know about the "Kosher Nostra," say can cost a pretty penny. In light of the complaint, the J stopped selling Gatorade. Members were up in arms over the issue, and said those who didn't want to drink Gatorade had alternatives. At a board meeting earlier this week, the J agreed to start serving Gatorade again as long as there was a suitable alternative for the ultra-orthodox.
